Secondly, it comes the idea of not showing herself to the groom until the moment to be already married. Back in time the weddings were arranged between families and the grooms to be had no word for this. In one way to show that the exterior look is of a less importance, on the other for the groom not to change his mind the bride was fully covered and the veil was one part for this aim.
Also it is about the wedding veil to be worn as to show the beauty only to the groom. The bride is submissive and by letting her groom to lift up the veil after the ceremony it is symbolized the belonging only to this man and the fact that she is under his word of command. And I mean it, so traditions mention.

When the groom lifts it up the bride’s veil he actually leaves behind all the past. And so even before entering in the church it is said that the bride should tear off one small piece of her veil and throw it at her back without looking as to leave at the church door all the evil, the past.

The idea is in mostly of its essence related to the bride’s beauty. To have it on her face is the sign of youth and innocence, revealed only by her groom. Nowadays of course such ideas are lost but still the wedding veils remain indispensable elements for brides. But only for the esthetic ground as extra embellishment they could have.
